When Attorney Woo is a Korean drama starring Park Eun-bin as Hanbada’s first autistic lawyer. Utilizing her unique skills and abilities to win cases while building friendships and love connections while advocating on behalf of people with disabilities.
Her colleagues including head attorney Jung Myung-seok and law school classmate Choi Su-yeon adapt to her eccentricities, while she develops feelings for Jun-ho, an office support staffer.
Hanbada
Young-woo’s inaugural case involves her former neighbors from childhood. This is where Young-woo first used legal terms; one client in particular seemed like one she could relate to; hot-tempered and always finding himself in trouble, when corrected on his legal jargon by his juniors he got angry and threatened them.
Young-woo’s dedication to her job made it clear: she was determined to win this case and not give in.
Taesan
Jun-ho steps in when a Taesan employee starts stalking Young-woo’s house and approaches her with information about their branch in Boston, offering to present all sorts of benefits they would gain by moving there, including paid leave, medical insurance coverage and access to specialists in autism spectrum disorder.
Su-yeon quickly detects that something is amiss with Young-woo and defends her to all involved, including Attorney Tae. She even shows Young-woo how much she cares for her by opening up Young-woo’s water bottle – showing just as clearly that Su-yeon loves Young-woo as much as any mother would their child. They develop their relationship despite Young-woo’s disinclination toward physical contact.
Soo-mi
Soo-mi is remembered for her unique sense of style and fierce determination, giving her a reputation as someone kind to those in need and unafraid to stand up against bullies. Additionally, Soo-mi has an ability to give flashy presentations while memorizing textbooks effortlessly.
Young-woo’s mother attended Raon as one of Geumgang’s former classmates, so Young-woo tries to frame Geumgang by sending damaging Hanbada documents, but the judge sees through her scheme and orders the case to be settled in her favor. Geumgang then offers her support in return for an apology to Raon CEO Eun-dong Seon who eventually settles it in her favor and the episode becomes heartwarmingly hilarious! A must-see!
Geu-ra-mi
Geu-ra-mi is an impressive young woman on the autism spectrum who graduated top of her law school class. While she excels in courtroom proceedings, workplace socialization remains challenging for her – often resorting to palindromes or stacks of legal books to orient herself in new environments.
Geu-ra-mi was raised by her single parent Gwang-ho as an individual student studying law. He encouraged and helped Geu-ra-mi memorize her law textbooks. Now running a gimbap restaurant, Geu-ra-mi teases Young-woo and denies being his friend but later admits she once protected Young-woo against bullies by pretending they were dating them and pretending she knew their identities.
Il-soo
Extraordinary Attorney Woo is one of the most-watched K-Dramas of 2022, leaving viewers eager for its follow up season. AStory Productions have confirmed that discussions regarding its second season are currently underway.
Young-woo is an autistic student who makes history at law school by graduating at the top of her class and landing her first job with Hanbada as soon as they begin recruiting her. Her photographic memory makes her a standout among clients and coworkers alike, leading them to love her as soon as they see how quickly her success in cases grows.
Alongside engaging legal cases, the show delves deeper into exploring personal boundaries for neurodivergent people while confronting prejudices. Critics have given praise for its portrayal of autism and issues it faces within South Korea.
Jun-ho
Jun-ho returns to the games with renewed determination and is intent on dismantling the entire operation, searching for answers in his brother, In-ho.
The Front Man sends his workers out in search of Jun-ho, unaware that he is both an infiltrator and police officer. Eventually they locate him near a cliff edge where they surround him; Jun-ho takes out his gun and forces the VIP to reveal all about their game.
Young-woo is put through the paces in various cases that test her newfound resolve, including one which reveals her father’s past. Geu-ra-mi provides Young-woo with lessons in how to identify liars while her firm defends eccentric young men and woman on the autism spectrum.
